OUTREACH & SOCIAL ACTION

As followers of Christ we are called to serve Him in our service of the world. As a Christian community we express this in a variety of ways including:

Faith in Action Group

Church members are involved in supporting

a variety of charities working at home and

abroad. We do this in giving of our time, our

skills and our money.

As a church we support fair trade and the

Trade Justice movement, co-ordinate the

Christian Aid Week collection in the village,

and have an annual Lent appeal for a

nominated project. Other special events

and collections are held throughout the

year, while the church has also given

support to students involved in voluntary

service overseas. We aim to facilitate

the donation of a figure equivalent to 10%

of the church’s income to social action at

home and abroad.

Community Activities

The Church Hall Centre is maintained as a facility for the whole community and is used by a wide variety of groups. These include the Cringleford Lunch Club that meets weekly during term time and provides lunch and fellowship for those who might otherwise be on their own. In addition the church holds regular services in the parishes’ residential and nursing homes.

Hospital Links

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the BUPA Hospital lie within the benefice. We encourage church members to give practical support to the work of the Chaplaincy and the Christian book shop at the University Hospital.

Links With Other Churches

Jesus Christ prayed that his disciples might be one. Our churches seek to work with Christians from other denominations and backgrounds. At Cringleford monthly services are held by the German Evangelical Lutheran church. Cringleford and Colney churches are also part of Churches Together in Greater Norwich.
