Chancel Plastering

Following the open meeting with the congregation earlier in the year about the chancel, a faculty* application was made to the Chancellor of the Diocese.  He has furnished us with a faculty nisi to remove the wooden furniture from the chancel in order to re-plaster the walls.

The Rector and wardens can now ask the architect to proceed and will then put the work out to tender. We will ensure that the date for work to begin will be made known well in advance.

*A faculty is a licence from the diocesan consistory court authorising work in a Church of England church or churchyard. The faculty system, which has the force of law, also covers the works dealt with by the secular controls over listed buildings and ancient monuments, and works to church buildings do not need listed building consent.

Men’s Breakfast

We have been pleased to welcome a wide variety of speakers from both inside and outside our local church community to lead our meetings so far this year and the group is very grateful to everyone who has contributed in this way providing us with much material on which to reflect. We are currently in the process of drawing up a programme for the second half of the year and further details will follow. If you have not been to one of our meetings before they take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month in the church hall commencing at 8.00am and finishing at 9.30am on the dot. You will be assured of a warm welcome, simple food and friendship. Please phone or email Philip Talbot on 507378, pjt@meadway26.freeserve.co.uk to reserve a place.

We are delighted that Daniel Taylor has agreed to lead our session on 17th July. Daniel  is a UEA PhD student and at the same time is studying for an OU Psychology degree. In his "spare time" Daniel runs the UEA comedy club which comes out of his particular interest in Improvised Comedy and he plans to bring along some of his university friends to demonstrate how improvised comedy works. Hopefully it will not be too early in the day for us also to provide some inspiration! Please phone Philip Talbot to book your place - new members always very welcome.
