Chancel Plastering
Following the open meeting with the congregation earlier in the year about the chancel, a faculty* application was
made to the Chancellor of the Diocese. He has furnished us with a faculty nisi to remove the wooden furniture from the chancel
in order to re-plaster the walls.
The Rector and wardens can now ask the architect to proceed and will then put the work out to tender. We will ensure that the date for work to begin will be made known well in advance.
*A faculty is a licence from the diocesan
consistory court authorising work in a Church of England church or churchyard. The faculty system, which has the force of law, also
covers the works dealt with by the secular controls over listed buildings and ancient monuments, and works to church buildings do
not need listed building consent.
